Pete Markham
A-Mark Pest and Bird Management was established in 1986 by Pete Markham, following his retirement from Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical & Co., where he served as the corporate bird control specialist in research and development for avian management. Throughout his career, Pete pioneered innovative bird control solutions, securing patents for multiple avian management products. He was a respected speaker at universities and seminars nationwide, sharing his expertise with industry professionals and researchers alike.
Pete also served as a consultant for the American Institute of Baking (AIB) and collaborated with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on testing initiatives and providing input on avian management challenges. In recognition of his contributions and professional achievements, he was honored as a member of Purdue University’s Wall of Honor.
Valerie Markham
Behind the success of A-Mark Pest and Bird Management was not just one founder, but a partnership built on hard work, resilience, and dedication. While my Pete Markham was often the face of the company, Valerie Markham was the driving force behind the scenes. She played a vital role in every aspect of the business from working out on plant sites to managing operations in the office. Her ability to balance the demands of the field, the day-to-day responsibilities of running a business, and raising three children speaks to her strength and commitment. Her contributions were foundational to the company’s growth and stability. Though her work was often unseen, it was never insignificant. This business stands as much on her effort, sacrifice, and determination as anyone else’s.

Next Generation Leadership Driving the Future
Jessica Markham represents the next generation of leadership at A-Mark, combining deep operational experience with a forward-thinking approach to industrial bird, wildlife, and pest management.
Jessica is a recognized leader in industrial bird, wildlife, and pest management. She has expertise supporting oil and gas, LNG, energy, and food manufacturing operations. She began her career working in refineries at 18, developing a firsthand understanding of the safety, compliance, and operational demands critical to complex facilities. After studying Environmental Science and Biology at Ferrum College and earning a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Horticulture from Sam Houston State University, she went on to gain valuable operational experience with ExxonMobil.
Jessica now leads and has significantly expanded her family’s business into a multi-state operation, delivering specialized, compliance-driven wildlife management programs to some of the most demanding industrial environments in the United States. She is particularly known for her work with federally protected migratory species, including complex vulture mitigation strategies.
She works closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the United States Department of Agriculture to ensure full regulatory compliance and is actively developing innovative, patent-pending solutions. Jessica is known for delivering practical, defensible solutions that reduce risk, protect assets, and align with operational priorities at the highest levels.
